3 Guys Choose How to Die at Denver’s Mercury Cafe

Posted on May 16, 2014 by Bart Windrum in Uncategorized - No Comments

On Thursday 22 May 2014 from 7–9pm Denver Colorado USA’s Mercury Cafe will host a unique evening. At Choosing How to Die I’ll present a concise introduction to Overcoming the 7 Deadly Obstacles to Dying in Peace, identifying the obstacles (the first step to assessing, mitigating, and overcoming them). We’ll show Terry Pratchett’s documentary Choosing to Die, which follows Peter Smedley and others to Switzerland’s Dignitas facility, and Denver’s Robert Mitton will discuss his frustrating options for self-deliverance (Robert’s 14 year-old bovine aortic valve implant has reached its end-of-life and he doesn’t want to endure, at age 58, a second operation of that magnitude). A challenging yet unflinching  look at aided and un-aided end-of-life choices, particularly apt when trying to answer for oneself the question “is protracted dying the necessary cost of extended living?”.
